Softball sweeps Bevill State

Lady Warriors ended the short road trip with a sweep of Bevill State on Tuesday

 

WVC used strong pitching performance from Jade Montgomery and Megan Eder to win the doubleheader with scores of 6-1 and 8-0.

 

First Game, Warriors got on the scoreboard in the 2nd inning when Eder and Montgomery singled to start the inning. Taylor Miles followed with a double to left field driving Eder and Montgomery in. After adding run in the 3rd, WVC put the game out of reach with a three run 6th. With one out, Emma Robinson singled, Destinee Miles reached on an error, and Kyndell Ethridge singled scoring Robinson. Eder followed with a single, Miles and Ethridge scored.

Montgomery (2-0) pitched 7 innings, allowed one unearned run, eight hits, striking out five, and no walks allowed.

Second Game, WVC started the game with a leadoff triple by Destinee Miles, Miles scored on a groundout by Paige Byrd. After adding two runs in the 2nd, the 4th inning was lead off by Taylor Miles with a walk, Alexis Smith followed with a single, and Alison Statz followed with a single that scored Miles. With one out, D. Miles singled up the middle scored Smith and Statz. Kyndell Ethridge with two out singled and D. Miles scored. Warriors added a run in the 6th for the 8-0 victory.

Eder (1-0) was the winning pitcher, allowing seven hits, no walks while striking out two.
