In the first week of the regular season, the Columbia State Chargers had Sophomore Goalkeeper Camryn Chambless selected as the TCCAA Conference GK of the week.
Chambless subbed into the game against Wabash after Sophomore GK Emily Robinson was shown a red card and ejected after the 33rd minute. Chambless went on to make one save and kept a clean sheet (didn't allow any goals) for the remainder of the game.
Chambless started and played all 90 minutes of the game against Hinds Community College, making two saves and collecting her first 90-minute clean sheet of the season.
With two complete shutouts her freshman year, that gives her three shutouts on her college career.
"It means a lot to me because it's the first week of the season, now that Emily and Alice have seen a complete shutout, they'll be motivated to do it as well. I take some pride in setting the standard," said Chambless on what this recognition means to her.
The Chargers continue their season this week on Thursday evening against Lewis & Clark at Ridley Park with a 7 p.m. kickoff, followed by their Conference home opener on Sunday at 3 p.m. against Pellissippi State Community College.
