Luke Scheidecker finished his fifth year as head coach at Wabash Valley College, and sixth year overall, at the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign. Scheidecker, a 19-time Coach of the Year honoree, owns an overall record of 171-16 (91%) and has won a conference and region championship during all six of his seasons as a head coach while making five appearances in NJCAA National Tournaments.

During his time at the helm, Scheidecker has coached and recruited over 50 players who have moved on to the four-year level, over 35of which have signed with Division I programs. Nine of Scheidecker’s athletes have earned All-American honors under his tutelage. In the classroom, the Lady Warriors program has also seen great success, averaging a GPA of 3.21 under his watch.

As a head coach, Scheidecker has a history of improving program immediately. At the age of 24, during his first and only season at Shawnee Community College, he took over an 0-27 program that had won three games in as many seasons, and immediately improved their record to 30-3 and the only Division I national ranking in school history. The 30-win increase from the previous season marks one of the biggest turnarounds in college basketball history. He then went on to take over a 14-16 Wabash Valley team, leading them to a 31-2 record in his first year.

Scheidecker’s teams have been some of the prolific offensive teams in the country in scoring and field goal percentage. They have been, on average, a top-three team in points per game, averaging around 90 points per a game while also being in the top-five of in the country in FG %.  In 2022-2023 the Lady Warriors led the country in scoring while averaging 101 points per game.  

His players have experienced great success as well. In addition of his 9 All-Americans, he has recruited and coached six Conference Player of the Years and two Freshmen of the Year. He also has had 24 All-Conference and All-Region selections. At the NCAA level, his former players have found great success, as they have been named to All-Conference teams as well. 

Prior to Shawnee, Scheidecker joined the Southern Illinois University staff in the summer of 2012 where he served as the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations. At Southern Illinois he had a wide range of task, he was in charge of all team travel, assistant camp director, assisted in different aspects of recruiting, and ran the Special Olympics basketball Clinic and annual fundraiser.

Prior to SIU, he spent three years with the SEMO men's basketball program. In 2011, he took on the added title of Director of Basketball Operations. In his capacity as operations director, Scheidecker coordinated all aspects of team travel. He also handled scheduling for non-conference games, coordinated recruiting trips and official visits, and organized film exchange.

A native of Kansas City area, Scheidecker has two children, a 9 year-old son, Cade and a 6 year-old daughter, Brynn.
