Wabash Valley College's Bass Coach, Todd Gill, is excited to announce the signing of Sam Ausbrooks for the 2023–2024 collegiate bass season. Ausbrooks signed on Monday, July 10th at Wabash Valley College among family and friends.
Sam is the son of Josh and Kristi Ausbrooks of Loogootee, Indiana. He is a graduate of Loogootee High School and fished in the Southwest Indiana Bass Club, USA Bassin, Hoosier Opens, Hoosier BFL, and the Indiana Bass Federation Trail while in high school. He finished 2nd at the Hoosier Open at Lake Monroe and was 2nd at the Indiana BASS Nation State Tournament making him one of the youngest to ever make the BASS Indiana State Team. He finished 37th this season in the points race on the Toyota Series Central Division as a Strike King Co-Angler. Sam is the first to receive the Eli Newberry Memorial Scholarship in honor and memory of Eli Newberry who was to fish with Wabash Valley College for the 2023-24 and 2024-24 season.
Sam's favorite lake to fish is Lake Chickamauga and other lakes along the Tennessee River chain. Some goals for his college fishing years are to learn fish behavior on different bodies of water and to learn how to adapt to given circumstances and be able to catch them. Outside of fishing, Sam enjoys waterfowl hunting, working, and spending time with friends and family. Sam is planning to major in electrical distribution and is excited about his opportunity to be a part of the Wabash Valley College Bass Team.
