Pairings set for this weekend's NJCAA Region 24 tournament

MT. CARMEL, Ill. -- The field is set for this weekend's NJCAA Region 24 volleyball tournament at Vincennes University. 

The host Trailblazers carry the No. 1 seed into the six-team affair. They finished 10-0 in Region 24 games during a 27-8 regular season. John A. Logan is seeded second, followed by Lake Land, Kaskaskia, Wabash Valley, and Shawnee. 

Mark Colvin's Lady Warriors will get out of the gate first in the opening game of the tourney against Kaskaskia, scheduled for 10 a.m. CDT on Friday. WVC enters at 13-17 while Kaskaskia enters at 23-9. 

The next game, at 12:30 p.m., pits Lake Land (16-15) against Shawnee (0-18). 

Vincennes draws the winner of the WVC-Kaskaskia game, next at 3 p.m. John A. Logan (14-5), the other team to earn a first-round bye, awaits the winner of the Lake Land-Shawnee game, in a 4:30 p.m. matchup. 

The Region 24 tournament concludes on Saturday, with the third-place game at 10:00 a.m., and the championship game at 12 noon. 

Region 24 will advance four of the six teams on to the NJCAA District tournament level, set for Nov. 5th. The top two finishers at VU will each host a four-team district tournament (Midwest District A and Midwest District B), with one other team from Region 24, one from Region 11 (Iowa) and one from Region 16 (Missouri). 

The winners there will both advance to the NJCAA Division I national tournament in West Plains, Mo. On Nov. 17-19.
