MT. CARMEL, Ill. -- Mark Colvin resigned his position as head volleyball coach at Wabash Valley this spring. However, the winningest coach in program history is staying on as an assistant for new head coach Rachel Refenes.

And Refenes could not be happier.

"Mark's commitment to this school and program has been and will be a major attribute to our future success," she said. "His relentless effort to recruit solid players in the 2023 class throughout the spring and summer has been a tremendous help. Without his dedication and work ethic we could have been in a bad spot in the GRAC (Great Rivers Athletic Conference). Instead, I feel he has put us in a good position to do well, if we take care of our side of the court."

Colvin has left an indelible mark on Wabash Valley Lady Warrior athletics in the sports of volleyball, softball, and basketball.

He served 15 years as head volleyball coach in two stints: the first ten years from 1994-2003 and again following the resumption of the program, from 2018-2022. During that span, Colvin's teams compiled a mark of 332-271-2 for a winning percentage of .550.

Colvin is also an assistant coach for the softball Warriors, a position he has held since 2000. The Lady Warriors are an incredible 963-263 (.806) in those years, while winning 15 GRAC championships, eight NJCAA Region 24 titles, and making eight trips to the Division I national tournament.

He also served as a women's basketball coach for six seasons (1994-99, and 2002-03). The Lady Warriors were 110-81 (.576) in those years.
