MT. CARMEL, Ill. -- A new era in Wabash Valley volleyball will begin on Saturday, Aug. 19. That is the day Rachel Refenes officially takes the reigns as Lady Warrior head coach at the Southeastern Illinois Tournament in Harrisburg.
It is one of three tournament stops on the 2023 schedule finalized last week. The other two tourneys are both in Vincennes: The VU Classic on Sept. 8-9 and the Showdown on the Wabash on Oct. 6-7.
There are a total of 23 single games on the WVC schedule, in addition to the multi-game tournaments.
The home opener at Spencer Sports Center is set for Mon., Sept. 4 against John A. Logan. There are nine home matches on the schedule.
Refenes' team also has two doubleheaders on the schedule. The Lady Warriors face Frontier and East Central, Missouri at Frontier on Sept. 30. Then, on Oct. 21 at St. Louis, Wabash Valley faces the hosts plus Frontier again.
All home games begin at 6:30 p.m. except for the Sept. 9 game against Vincennes, which begins at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
