ULLIN, Ill. -- The Wabash Valley men's basketball team wrapped up its' Great Rivers Athletic Conference season on Wednesday night with a 69-67 overtime win at Shawnee.

The win, more than anything, has brought more attention to the dramatic turnaround the Warriors have enjoyed in the second half of the 16-game GRAC campaign.

After dropping their first three league games of the season and finishing the first round of play with a 3-5 record, WVC fashioned a 6-2 mark in the back half to finish the GRAC season with a 9-7 mark and earn an upper-division finish.

Now 16-13 on the year, the Warriors will carry a two-game winning streak into the regular-season finale on Saturday at home against 10th-ranked Region 24 foe Vincennes (25-3). The Sophomore Day game will begin at 3 p.m. CST.

Jakobi Heady got the Warriors into overtime with a tip-in at the buzzer which tied the game at 60-60. That is only because Ksuan Casey first saved a ball from heading out-of-bounds with a flip that Brandon Rayzer-Moore ended up with. He dribbled to the right side of the key and launched a 25-footer that missed, paving the way for Heady's heroics.

In overtime, A.K. Hazley hit a free throw to put Shawnee up, 61-60, but then two more Warrior tip-ins, by Casey and Rayzer-Moore, put the visitors ahead to stay. The last five points came at the foul line, four of them by Gary Clay.

The first half of the game was a struggle for both teams. Wabash Valley led at the break, only 25-17. Shawnee's biggest run of the night came during a four-minute stretch of the second half, when the Saints used a 17-7 surge to grab a 48-41 lead with 9:45 left.

Shawnee fell to 11-16, and 4-11 in the GRAC, with the loss.

WVC, 2-0 in overtime games this year (the Warriors beat Southwestern, 108-103, in double OT on Dec. 10 in Mt. Carmel), was led by Casey's 21 points, followed by 18 points from Clay and 10 from Rayzer-Moore. Casey claimed a double-double on the day with 14 rebounds.

Hazley paced the Saints with 25 points.
