MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Southwest Tennessee scored a goal in the second half to force a 1-1 tie with visiting Wabash Valley on Monday afternoon.
The unassisted goal, by Rainey Tiner, came in the 71st minute, tying the match at 1-1. WVC (1-0-1 on the year) could not regain the lead it had enjoyed earlier in the first half.
Lexi Blasberg put the Warriors ahead with an unassisted goal at the 12:09 mark. It was the sophomore's third goal of the young season.
Wabash Valley held the advantage in shots taken (22-6), shots on goal (7-4), as well as corner kicks (7-1). However, Saluqis goalkeeper Maria Carrico came up big in the net with seven saves.
Southwest Tennessee now stands 0-2-1 on the season.
Next up for Wabash Valley is a home game against undefeated Columbia State (4-0), on Friday, Sept. 1 at 5:00 p.m.
The Saluqis next play Pellissippi State (2-1) on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. CDT at home.
