After losing a few close games to kick off the season and finishing with two ties, the Lady Warriors finally put it all together and collected their first win of the season over Lincoln Land Community College on September 25th. The Loggers compete at the division two level, but came into the match undefeated at 8-0 and previously ranked 20th in the nation.

Lise Ravat put the Lady Warriors ahead with her third goal of the season, making it 1-0 around 15 minutes into the match. Her goal, was only the second goal that Lincoln Land had allowed all season. With just under 16 minutes left in the first half, the Loggers tied the game at one. Lincoln Land struck first in the second half with 27 minutes left, making it a 2-1 game.

With one minute left in the game, the Lady Warriors had a corner kick opportunity. The kick sailed in, was deflected off the foot of Ravat, which then the ball found its way to Lexi Smith, who was right in front of the goal and put it in. That goal, tied the game at two with under a minute left.

As time was dwindling down, the Lady Warriors were trying to find a way to score. A shot from Dorine Casson was deflected by a Logger defender, and sailed acroos the pitch. The ball was cleared out and Maddie Cook took a shot on goal. Her shot was going to be just short of the goal, but the Rainee Brito took the opportunity for the header. Wtih 2.5 seconds on the clock, the header found its way past the goalie. Brito's goal gave the Lady Warriors the win and handed Lincoln Land their first loss of the season.

Coach Patrick Harris had this to say on todays victory.

"We've been talking all year about fighting to the very end of games. We've been unfortunate in some of our games this year with the amount of chances that were createad that don't go in. I fully believe these things have a way of righting themselves if you keep fighting for it. This could be the game that unlocks the success for the remainder of the season."

The next game for the Lady Warriors is this Saturday, September 28th at Illinois Central College. It's a 3pm start, but keep an eye on our social media outlets as that could possibly change due to the forcasted rain.
