Warriors ranked 10th in first weekly poll of the season

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Wabash Valley landed the No. 10 spot in the first weekly Division I baseball poll of the season.

The Warriors, ranked eighth in the pre-season poll issued in January, are 10-6 on the year, winners of three straight games and seven of their last eight. Of the first 12 games of the season, eight were against nationally ranked opponents.

Aaron Biddle's team is now done with the southern swing, though a few more non-conference games are ahead before Great Rivers Athletic Conference games begin.

The Warriors have a home game scheduled on Wednesday, Mar. 1 at 1:00 p.m. CST against the Oakland City JV team. Maddox Pennington, who picked up a win in his first collegiate start on Feb. 21 against Vincennes, will be on the hill.

WVC will play three games at Vincennes this weekend, beginning with a matchup against Lincoln Trail (8-5) on Friday at 1:00 p.m. CST (That game will not count in the GRAC standings).

On Saturday, the Warriors will play Kellogg, Mich. (2-4) at 2:30 p.m., followed by two games on Sunday: a to-be-determined opponent at 12-noon, and a game against the host Trailblazers (4-8) at 5:00 p.m.

The first series of the GRAC season opens on Thursday, Mar. 9 with a 2 p.m. home game against Frontier (9-4) followed by a doubleheader at Frontier on Saturday, Mar. 11 at 12-noon.
