ROBINSON, Ill. -- Wabash Valley pounded out 13 hits while holding Lincoln Trail to just two in a 14-2 Great Rivers Athletic Conference baseball victory here on Thursday.

For the 8th-ranked Warriors, the win snapped a brief one-game losing streak and improved the club to a perfect 4-0 in the GRAC, and 19-7 overall. Lincoln Trail fell to 2-2 and 12-9.

The two teams moved the start time of the series opener up four hours to beat the rain, which they did. But, with wintry weather to follow on Saturday and the high forecast in the low to middle 30s, the series ending doubleheader in Mt. Carmel has been pushed back to Monday at 12-noon.

Jacob Frost, who improved to 3-1 with the win, and Isaac Seeger teamed up on a two-hitter, Frost working the first six innings and Seeger a 1-2-3 seventh. Frost struck out eight Statesmen, including the side in the fourth, and walked only two batters, both in the sixth inning. Seeger recorded one strikeout, the final out of the game, on a called third strike.

The Warriors scored three runs in the top of the first inning to make it a wire-to-wire win. Nick Williams and Yamil Torres had RBI singles, while Isaias Villarreal picked up one on a base-loaded walk.

After Lincoln Trail countered with one run in the home half of the first, the score remained 3-1 until WVC added 10 runs in the middle innings, beginning with a fourth-inning sacrifice fly by Williams that brought home the fourth run by the visitors.

In the fifth, Wabash Valley uncorked six runs to blow the game open. Jon Legrande singled for two of his three RBIs in the game. Rich Bonomolo and Williams also delivered runs, while Danny Contreras came home on a throwing error and Williams later scored on a passed ball.

The Warriors produced three more runs in the sixth inning. Legrande's double for his third RBI of the day was the longest hit of the frame. Bruce Jellison added an RBI single, while Villarreal scored on a passed ball. WVC was up 13-1.

Michael Lareau was hit by a pitch with the bases full in the seventh to drive home the final Warrior run.

Jellison, Bonomolo, Legrande, Williams, and Villarreal each had two-hit days at the plate. Williams joined Legrande with three RBIs on the day.
