NO. 2! Baseball Warriors jump up two spots in NJCAA poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Wabash Valley jumped up two spots to No. 2 in the weekly NJCAA Division I baseball poll, released on Monday.  

For the 39-9 Warriors, winners of 13 straight games, this is the highest ranking of the nine regular-season polls to date. Aaron Biddle's club was ranked eighth in the pre-season listing. 

WVC received 152 points from the nationwide voting panel, second only to new No. 1 Central Florida (46-4), which moved up from second. 

Last week's top-ranked team, Walters State, Tennessee (43-8), tumbled to third after losing two games last week. Central Arizona (44-8) fell from third to fourth, with Johnson County, Kansas (41-5) moving up one spot to fifth. 

The second five consists of: Florence-Darlington, S.C. (45-8), Crowder, Missouri (39-11), Barton, Kansas (40-7), Weatherford, Texas (38-9), and Santa Fe, New Mexico (37-8). 

Weatherford and No. 16 Miami-Fade (30-13) were the biggest movers in the poll, each up four spots from last week. Meanwhile, 17th-ranked Gaston, North Carolina (40-8), dropped six spots from 11th. 

There were three newcomers to the Top 20 this week. South Mountain, Arizona (40-12) came in at No. 18, followed by Connors State, Nebraska (43-6) at No. 19, and Great Rivers Athletic Conference foe John A. Logan (32-13) in 20th. 

In Division II, the top seven teams remained the same, led by LSU-Eunice and No. 2 Heartland of Region 24. 

Caldwell Tech is No. 1 in Division III. There are no Region 24 schools in that division.
