GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Even after an eight-day layoff, the Wabash Valley Lady Warriors were a model of consistency on Monday night.
WVC put seven players in double figures in a 102-69 victory over the DePauw University reserve team in Greencastle, Ind..
Shaulana Wagner led the way with 17 points, followed closely by Tamesha Dozier's 16 off the bench. Chanteese Craig totaled 14, Madison Roshelle 13, both Kuryn Brunson and Zhordan Shannon 12, and Trinitee Harris with 10 points.
Only 50 points – less than half of the team's total – came from the starting lineup. Five of the six 3-point field goals came from the bench as well.
The Lady Warriors were a model of efficiency as well. They shot 54 percent from the field (42-of-77 accuracy) and were just as adept at the arc line, where they hit six-of-11 attempts. They delivered 22 assists to only eight turnovers while recording 20 steals in the game.
Luke Scheidecker's club led 21-12 at the end of the first quarter, and by halftime the margin was 18 points at 51-33.
After an even third period, WVC finished strong in the fourth quarter, outscoring DePauw, 28-16, to finish with a 33-point win.
The Lady Warriors head for the Vincennes University Classic this weekend. On Friday, Wabash Valley meets Delta (1-2), Mich. at 4 p.m. CST. Then, on Saturday, they play Malcolm X (0-1) at 2 p.m. CST.
