Lady Warriors Pressure Slows Lake Land

Wabash Valley made the road trip to Mattoon, IL on December 7th for a matchup against the Lake Land Lady Lakers. The Lady Lakers, are the #5 team in the country for NJCAA Divison 2 women's basketball. The Lady Warriors got off to a slow start as the Lady Lakers jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead before Madison Lewis put Wabash on the board. After the basket, the Lady Warriors cleaned things up and settled in. The score was 28-19 after the first quarter, and the Lady Warriors never looked back. The final score was 98-59. 

Defensively, the Lady Warriors were a problem for Lake Land. Wabash Valley was able to force 25 turnovers.  

Madison Lewis was the leading scorer for the Lady Warriors with 26 points. Beautiful Waheed finished with 19 points, Makaya Porter added 15 points, and Trinity Butler finished with 10 points. Five other Lady Warriors scored in the contest. 

Wabash Valley is back at the Spencer Sports Center this Wednesday night, December 11th for a 5pm tilt against Southwestern Illinois College.
