Warriors beat Jefferson to complete Missouri sweep

PARK HILLS, Mo. -- The Wabash Valley women's basketball team defeated Jefferson College on Saturday to complete a weekend sweep in the Chris Morrison State Farm Classic at Mineral Area College.

The Lady Warriors moved to 8-1 on the season with a 114-40 win over the Vikings. But they took a different route than the one used on Friday in beating the host Cardinals by 18 points in their Classic opener.

Whereas the first game hung in the balance until the fourth quarter, WVC staked its claim early against Jefferson, jumping to a 40-7 lead at the end of the first period and cruising in from there.

Luke Scheidecker's club led 64-20 by halftime, and 94-26 at the third quarter break. Every player hit the scoring column and six finished in double figures for the day.

Chanteese Craig led the way with 14 points. Kuryn Brunson, Yiesha Williams, and Madison Roshelle each had 13 points. Brooklyn Gray finished with 12 points, and leading scorer Shaulana Wagner added 11 for the winners.

Jefferson, coached by former WVC men's assistant coach Cornelius CB Walker, was led by Nevaeh Howard with nine points.

Wabash Valley, rated 17th this week by Massey, returns to Spencer Sports Center for only the second time this season on Saturday, Dec. 3 in  a Great Rivers Athletic Conference game against Lincoln Trail.  The tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m.

The Vikings next play at home against Moberly Area on Friday, Dec. 2.
