DANVILLE, Ill. -- The Wabash Valley women's baskeball team will carry a 13-game winning streak into the holidays, after a 96-60 non-conference victory at Danville Area on Monday night.

The 18th-ranked Lady Warriors, now 13-1 on the season, have not lost since opening night on Nov. 5th. Danville Area fell to 5-4 with the loss.

Luke Scheidecker's club put together a solid enough first half, leading 57-18 at intermission. That included a 23-1 finish to the first quarter for a 29-7 lead.

They coasted in from there. Danville outscored WVC over the final two quarters, 42-39.

The Lady Warriors shot 44.3 percent from the field on 39-of-88 accuracy, a very impressive performance considering they were only 1-of-17 from beyond the arc line.

Chanteese Craig led the way for Wabash Valley with 20 points. Yiesha Williams added 12 points, Shaulana Wagner 11 and Trinitee Harris 10 points for the winners.

Danville Area was led by Brianna Hamilton with 17 points.

The Lady Warriors have played only three of their first 14 games at home. That imbalance will improve somewhat with the first two games of 2023, both played at Spencer Sports Center.

Volunteer State, Tenn. (5-6) calls on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Three days later, 17th-ranked Three Rivers, Mo. (11-1) arrives for a 1 p.m. CST contest.

WVC has won 92 straight games at home.

WARRIOR NOTES: The Lady Warriors get to spend Christmas at home with family and friends, but Scheidecker is bringing them back prior to New Year's Day to prepare for the resumption of the season. Some of the players were able to head out after the game in Danville.
