Win streak at 22 after GRAC win at Southwestern

BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- The Wabash Valley Lady Warriors rolled to their 22nd straight win on Saturday, defeating Southwestern Illinois, 107-44, in Great Rivers Athletic Conference play here. 

The 13th-ranked Lady Warriors jumped to a 20-0 lead and never looked back in improving to 22-1 overall, and 10-0 in GRAC play. Southwestern fell to 15-7 on the season and 5-4 in the league. 

By the end of the first quarter, WVC led 34-11, and after a 15-point second quarter, the visitors held a 49-23 advantage. 

In the third quarter, Luke Scheidecker's club came out strong and reasserted control, outscoring the Blue Storm 35-5 to take a commanding 84-28 lead into the fourth frame. 

Five players finished in double figures for Wabash Valley. Shaulana Wagner led with 30 points, followed by 24 points by Brooklyn Gray, 17 by Trinitee Harris, 15 from Jade Salters, and 13 from Chanteese Craig. 

Gray and Craig added 10 rebounds apiece to earn a double-double on the day. Wagner did too, thanks to 12 assists. But, she came within one rebound of making it a triple-double. 

Wabash Valley finished over the 100-point mark for the 13th time this season. The Lady Warriors lead the NJCAA (Division I) in scoring at 102.3 points per game, along with seven other categories. 

WVC has two home games coming up this week, beginning with a rescheduled GRAC game against Rend Lake at 5 p.m. CST on Wednesday, followed by a visit from Kaskaskia at 3 p.m. (revised time) on Saturday.
