Lady Warriors finish regular season 27-1 with 107-60 win over Vincennes

MT. CARMEL, Ill. -- The 12th-ranked Wabash Valley Lady Warrior basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 107-60 victory over Region 24 rival Vincennes on Saturday at Spencer Sports Center. 

The Lady Warriors, after losing their season opener on Nov. 5, finished the season on a 27-game winning streak. Luke Scheidecker's 27-1 team next plays in the NJCAA Midwest District tournament at Lake Land College in Mattoon, from March 5-9. 

Pairings have not been released for the tourney yet. There are still makeup games to be played on Tuesday involving regional teams that could affect final seedings. 

Wabash Valley bolted to a 26-5 lead in the Sophomore Day game by the end of the first quarter and led at halftime 56-18. Vincennes recovered in the second half, scoring 42 of its' 60 in the final two periods. WVC added 51 more points to finish over the century mark for the 17th time this season. 

The Lady Warriors finished the regular season as the top scoring team in the nation by a wide margin, averaging 103.5 points per game. Moberly Area is second, with an average of 83.6 points. 

That marks the fifth time in the last six years that WVC has led the nation in scoring. 

Central Florida holds the national record, averaging 110.3 points per game in 1996-97.

All five Wabash Valley starters finished in double figures in the game. Shaulana Wagner, who is ninth in NJCAA Division I in scoring, led the way with 19 points. Madison Roshelle finished with 17 points, Brooklyn Gray and Chanteese Craig 16 each, and Yiesha Williams with 13. 

Cherrelle Newsom finished game-high for Vincennes (19-10) with 25 points.
