Lady Warriors drop two games at Frontier

FAIRFIELD, Ill. -- Frontier erupted for all seven of its' runs in the fifth inning to defeat Wabash Valley in the first game of an NJCAA Region 24 doubleheader here on Tuesday. 

Bobcat pitching then shut out WVC in the second game, 8-0, to earn a sweep for the day. 

The Lady Warriors fell to 7-19 with the losses. Frontier improved to 17-12 with the two wins. 

Wabash Valley took its' only lead of the day in the top of the second inning of the opener. Demi Wolfe lined to center for a base hit, scoring Abbi Mocaby to make it 1-0. 

It stayed that way until the fifth when Fronter scored all seven of its' first-game runs to rally to the win. 

Abby Schreiner, Gracee Sullivan, and Marisa Lane each had two hits in the first game.  

Wolfe took the loss in the circle. 

In the second game, the Lady Warriors managed just four hits against Frontier starting pitcher Madison Shipley.  

WVC got only two runners to second base, one on a double by Mocaby.  

Kyrsten White took the loss for the Lady Warriors.  

The game, originally scheduled at home, was moved to Fairfield because of wet field conditions. The home doubleheader against Frontier will be made up on Tuesday, Apr. 11. 

Jade Montgomery's team will host Olney Central (20-9, 3-4 in Great Rivers Athletic Conference) in a league twinbill on Thursday, Mar. 30 beginning at 2 p.m. 

Sunday, Apr. 2, Wabash Valley hosts Lake Land in the NJCAA Game of the Week on ESPN+. The doubleheader begins at 12-noon.
