Lady Warriors split with nationally ranked John A Logan

On April 23, the Lady Warriors hosted the John A Logan Lady Volunteers, who are ranked 14th in the nation. Wabash took game one by a score of 4-1, but fell in game two 6-1.

In game one, Wabash Valley was seeing the ball well at the plate, as they tallied nine hits. Eight of those hits were off the starting pitch for the Lady Volunteers, Emma Markham. She allowed eight of the nine hits, along with four runs, which three of the four were earned runs. The bottom of the first inning was big for the Lady Warriors. They plated three runs, courtesy of a three run homerun from Abbi Mocaby. In the second inning, the Lady Warriors made it a 4-0 game after an RBI single from Kinsly Heichelbech. The Lady Volunteers scored in the top of the third, making it 4-1. John A Logan kept Wabash off the board in the bottom of the third, but the four runs was all the Lady Warriors needed, as neither team scored the rest of the game. The Lady Warriors defense played a clean game, as they didn't have an error. To go along with the clean defense, Alexis Tucker pitched a complete game. Tucker allowed four hits, with one earned run, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. 

In game two, it was a scoreless affair until the third inning. The Lady Volunteers put up a three spot in their half of the inning, making a 3-0 game. They held Wabash scoreless in the bottom of the third. John A Logan added another run in the top of the fourth, making it 4-0. They also added two runs in the top of the fifth, making it 6-0. The Lady Warriors put up their only run of the ballgame in the bottom of the fifth, making it 6-1. The Lady Volunteers would keep Wabash Valley scoreless the next two innings, winning the game 6-1. The Lady Warriors were out hit 12-4. Ava Schmidt had the lone RBI for Wabash Valley.
