Lady Warrior Softball splits with SIC in Region action

On what was a great day for softball, the Lady Warriors hosted the Southeastern Illinois College Lady Falcons for Region tournament play. In order to advance, you have to win two out of the three games. Unfortunately, two errors cost the Lady Warriors game one.

In game one, Alexis Tucker was in the circle and pitched extremely well for the Lady Warriors. Althought she was charged with the loss, she pitched a complete game with 7 strikeouts and allowed five hits. Two runs were scored by SIC, but Tucker wasn't charged for either. Two errors by the Warrior defense cost them in game one. Wabash Valley out hit SIC 7-5, but the Lady Warriors couldn't produce with runners in scoring position. EmmaLee Higgs went 2-3 from the plate while Makayla Collins went 2-2.

In game two, the bats for the Lady Warriors came to life early. In the first inning, they put up a six spot against the Lady Falcons to take a 6-1 lead. The Lady Falcons used an RBI single to plate their only run of the ball game. Wabash Valley forced the Lady Falcons to use four ptichers in game two. The first two gave up six runs, with five of them being earned runs. The third pitcher that entered the game for SIC was the starter in game one, but Wabash finally figured her out and collected two more runs off her, along with 6 hits. She was pulled after going 3.2 innings. Then the last pithcer gave up a solo homerun to give the Lady Warriors a run rule victory, 9-1. Makayla Collins went 2-2 again this game, but Abbi Mocaby and Karsyn Flowers both had homeruns for the Lady Warriors. Mocaby's homerun was a two run blast to make it 8-1, then Flowers ended the game with a solo homerun that barely cleared the fence in centerfield to give Wabash Valley the victory. Demi Wolfe pitched for the Lady Warriors in game two. She ptiched all five innings and gave up the lone run for the Lady Falcons. She also had two strikeouts.
